Where this started

Before Rekode AI, I spent ten years in construction, the last five as a project manager running large, high pressure projects in Christchurch. That job taught me something most people who build software never learn: how a business actually runs before you ever touch a tool. The friction, the manual handoffs, the work that quietly eats people's weeks. I saw it every day on site.

The first version of Rekode AI

When I started Rekode AI, the plan was simple. Businesses were drowning in manual processes and off the shelf software that almost fit but never quite did. So I built custom tools and apps for them, using AI to ship faster than a traditional dev shop. It worked. We delivered real systems for real businesses across property, telecoms and real estate.

But something kept nagging at me. The most valuable thing I was giving clients was not the software itself. It was getting AI working inside their business, end to end. The custom app was just one shape that took.

What changed in 2026

Over the last year, AI stopped being a novelty and became something a business can genuinely run on. Claude, agents, and the tooling around them got good enough that you can hand real work to a system and trust it. That changed what the job actually is.

So Rekode AI changed with it. We are no longer a custom software studio. We help businesses get running on AI, in two ways:

• We train your team to use AI day to day, so it actually changes how they work

• We build the systems and agents that do the work for you, plugged into the tools you already use

Why this matters for you

The gap between businesses that use AI well and businesses that do not is widening fast, and it is widening every month. The teams that get ahead are not the ones with the biggest budgets.
